Who is this Hire for?
Prior experience/training is required before bench space will be hired. Stained Glass work – an advanced level of training must have been completed. Copperfoil work, fusing, glass painting - a minimum of a beginners class must have been completed, we recommend having attended an exploration class/course before hire. (a kiln tuition session must have been attended before kiln hire – please ask for more information).
What does the Hire cover?
Work bench and equipment hire.
We offer the hire of workbench space, the hire fee is per session (up to 5 hours) and incudes the use of soldering irons and glass grinder. The bench space can be fired between the hours of 10am and 3pm unless otherwise arranged with The GlassHouse directly.
This includes glass cutter, running pliers, T Square, grozing pliers.
We offer glass kiln hire for fusing, slumping and glass painting only.
What is included in the fee?
Hire does not include tuition. Supervision only will be provided.
Bench space is hired between the hours of 10am and 3pm only.
Use of solder irons and glass grinder are included in the bench hire, please note that this equipment is shared by all attending during each session. There will be a maximum of four spaces available per session.
Compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment is required at all times. The use of Aprons and Safety Glasses are compulsory. Footwear must be sturdy and fully enclosed. Health and Safety must be adhered to as directed by the GlassHouse. Consumption of food on the premises is strictly forbidden, all drinks must be contained within cups with lids or bottles with lids at all times.
The GlassHouse do not accept responsibility or liability for the loss or damage to the hirers clothing, footwear or personal belongings. Personal belongings must be stored in the designated areas.
It is expected that the hirer will return all equipment and tools used to the correct storage area and the workbench will be left clean and tidy.
Tools and materials are available for purchase. Glass may be purchased separately.
The kiln must be programmed by a member of the GlassHouse Staff only. The hirer must advise the GlassHouse staff of the program required, the GlassHouse will not provide the hirer with programmes for the hirers work other than at the hirers own risk.
In the event of any damage to equipment, kilns or kiln furniture caused by the hirer’s negligent use, the hirer will be held responsible and will be charged for the repair or replacement of any damage. In the event of an incorrect programme being entered or supplied by the hirer no responsibility will be held by The GlassHouse.
Loading and unloading of kilns must be undertaken by the hirer. It is assumed that the hirer has sufficient understanding of the processes, hazards and operation of such equipment and the materials involved to be able to undertake this.
The GlassHouse will not be held responsible for any unsuccessful firings of hirer’s work, however caused.
These terms will be deemed accepted upon use of the equipment.
What do I need to bring?

All hire are for age 18 and over, unless otherwise specified.
We recommend that pregnant women do not carry our glass work that includes working with lead.
Course terms and conditions:
In the event of a session being cancelled by The GlassHouse a full refund will be issued.
For cancellations by the student 1 weeks in advance we offer a full refund or one free date change. If a date change has been requested, we cannot offer a refund on a subsequent cancellation.
For cancellations of 1 weeks or less we are unable to offer a refund or date change on class places.
However, if we are able to re-sell your place a refund in full will be made at all times.
Payment of your reservation deems that you accept these terms and conditions.
